A competitiveness cluster is a sector specific non-profit organisation, identified and established on the initiative of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, which brings together public, private and scientific-research representatives in a formal structure.
The intention is to gather the best players in their field – small, medium and large companies, public institutions and science and research institutes in order to develop synergies and cooperative efforts. The final outcome of this synergy will be increased national sector competitiveness.
Public, private and scientific-research sector participants represent the ‘triple helix’ concept, which is the basic structure of the Croatian Competitiveness Clusters. The cluster’s ultimate efficiency is determined by the quality of established communication and collaboration within the formal cluster structure.
The Agency for Investments and Competitiveness and the Ministry of Economy have played an important role in identifying, supporting and creating Croatian Competitiveness Clusters.
